Snow, Sun, Rain, Wind-When do you call it quits?

What happens to your camping week-end if the weather turns crappy?

You've got  the tent all set up, camp kitchen just the way you like it, and all of a sudden it clouds up and starts raining. Do you just wait it out and hope for decent weather, or pack it all up and head home?

If your R.V camping, it's a lot easier to settle down and relax while the storm moves thru.

We've been R.V. camping and had a snow storm roll in during the night. It never bothered us, we just kicked the furnace up, made a pot of tea, and snuggled down with a good book.

On the other hand, we've been tent camping when a storm would blow thru, and have to cook and eat meals while trying to stay dry under a tarp shelter.

That's not really my dream camping trip.......at all!!!

  1. i'm a weenie in bad weather. i'd be looking for more sturdy shelter than a tent. :)

  2. I'm starting to get that way too. Which is why I LOVE our 5th wheel. If we are headed out camping and the weather looks the least bit snotty, I want to take the trailer!!

  4. We've been through many storms, some very bad and deadly. But to answer that question, we put tarps end to end, covering most the site, high enough to keep the fire going, and we have cribbage and card tournaments. We invite any of the other campers who want a day of rain fun and have a blast sharing fun, food and company. We've even thrown a buck in a kitty and have a winners circle, winner, looser and wisher! Fun stuff! Isn't that what all die-hard campers do?

  5. Those camping trips are what makes good memories. That's why I still like tent camping. When I'm snuggling down in my sleeping bag at night, I can almost see and hear my folks when we were kids out camping.
Both my folks are gone, so it really makes for a nice memory

    Have a wonderful day everyone!!
